Where Bath actually stand, honestly
Get the current picture right, because plenty of pages have not. Bath won the 2024-25 Premiership, their first title of the league era, and went into 2025-26 as champions. They did not keep the crown: they lost their home semi-final at the Rec to Exeter by a single point in June 2026, and Northampton Saints won the title, beating Exeter 26 points to 17 in the final. So the team you will watch in 2026-27 are the 2024-25 champions with a point to prove, and the reigning champions are Northampton. The season opens on Friday 25 September 2026 with Bath away at Harlequins; the Rec's curtain-raiser is that Exeter game a week later, which given the semi-final needs no extra selling.
The ground and the stands
The Rec sits on the east bank of the Avon, ringed by hills, and it is regularly called the prettiest ground in the Premiership for a reason. It has North, East and South stands plus a temporary West Stand, under a four-year planning consent the club announced itself. The club does not publish which stands are covered, so dress for weather rather than assuming a roof. Entry is through four gates: William Street Gate to the north, Riverside Gate to the west, the South Gate, and the Sports Centre Gate. Worth knowing for trip planning: it has been reported that a rebuild to around 18,000 seats will start after the 2026-27 season, with some late-season home games moved elsewhere. The club has not set that out in the pages we checked, so treat it as reported rather than settled, but if you are planning a spring 2027 trip around a specific fixture, double-check the venue nearer the time.
Tickets: how it really works
Match tickets sell through the club's eticketing site, fixture by fixture. The club publishes on-sale dates for each home game but no public price list at all, so we will not print one: the only live prices are the ones the ticket flow shows you for your chosen match and seat. Tickets arrive up to 10 days before the match, so do not panic at an empty inbox a fortnight out.
On-sale dates already published for 2026-27: Exeter (2 October) is on general sale now; Montpellier in the Champions Cup (17 October) goes to general sale on 24 August; Sale Sharks (31 October) on 7 September. Bristol Bears visit on 4 December, and Leicester Tigers on 26 December with a 15:05 kick-off, which is as good a Boxing Day plan as Bath offers. The club notes all dates are subject to change.
If you will come more than a few times, the club says early-bird season tickets save at least 25% against buying match by match, and a lower-cost White Seat season ticket option continues for 2026-27.
Matchday reality
Gates open two hours before kick-off, and going early is the right call: Happy Hour takes £1 off all pints and wine for the first hour after gates open, and the Fan Village is at its best before the crush. The ground is fully cash-free, so bring a card or phone, not notes.
The club itself says the final stretch of any journey to the Rec is done on foot, and it actively discourages driving. Take that seriously: this is a Georgian city centre, not a stadium ring road. The club points drivers to the three park and ride sites, Lansdown to the north, Odd Down to the south and Newbridge to the west, and works with TravelWEST to extend park and ride hours for evening fixtures so you can get back after the final whistle. Bath Cricket Club's car park next door opens on matchdays too. Bath's Clean Air Zone charges daily but does not charge private cars or motorbikes, so no fee surprise there. One time-sensitive note: at the time of checking, Manvers Street in the centre was closed with its bus stops suspended, so allow extra minutes if you are arriving by bus.
If you are not going to the game
This is the paragraph most Bath guides skip. On home Friday nights and Saturdays, the city centre absorbs a near-capacity Rec crowd twice: once before kick-off, once after the final whistle.
