Castle Combe circuit is 25-ish minutes north-east of Bath, and most people only know it for car track days. On the far side of the circuit sits a 350m outdoor kart track run by Drive-Tech, and its public sessions are the best-value adrenaline booking within reach of the city.
Here's what £55 gets you on a scheduled Saturday: sign-in and full kit (helmet, suit, gloves), a safety briefing, practice laps, then four qualifying heats and a final, with trophies for the top three. The whole thing runs about three hours depending on numbers, in 200cc karts on a proper MSA-approved outdoor track that carries on in the rain. Drivers need to be 15 or over; the junior version for 10-15s is £50. No licence, no experience needed, and there's a rooftop viewing area for anyone who'd rather watch.
Compare that with any indoor track in the table. You'd pay £38 for a 25-minute heat session in Bristol, or £39 for 45 minutes in Chippenham. Castle Combe charges £55 for a structured race morning where you're on track repeatedly across three hours, outdoors, at a venue where the setting is part of the event. The indoor operators aren't doing anything wrong; their pricing pages just never make this comparison for you.

Absolutely Karting in Speedwell, east Bristol, is the strongest indoor track of the three, with 270cc karts hitting 45mph on a long circuit with ramps. The catch is pricing: TeamSport's site openly says prices vary by day, time and group size, and you only see a number at checkout. Check the total before you commit, because a weekend slot for four can land anywhere.

This is where the "nearest option" advice really breaks down. Delta Force South Bristol at Backwell, the site most Bath searches surface first, was listed as temporarily closed on its own page when we checked in August 2026. Don't book it without ringing.
The two reliable choices both sit on Bristol's north side. Delta Force North Bristol at Thornbury is open, with the classic Delta Force deal: £9.99 entry including all equipment, from age 7, in half-day blocks (10:00-13:00 or 14:00-17:00). The entry fee is bait; paint costs from £7.99 per 100, and a trigger-happy adult gets through 400-plus in a half day, so a realistic spend is £40 to £60 a head.
Max Events at Henbury prices more honestly: £10 entry only, or £30 including 300 paintballs, with extra paint at £10 per 100 on the day. It's a big farm site with woodland and open-field zones, about 40 minutes from Bath, and its combo pricing is the best stag-day value we found anywhere: quad biking plus paintball for £60, or quads, archery, axe throwing and paintball for £105.
Quads, clays and axes
Max Events covers most of this in one field: quad biking with clay shooting is £85, quads with laser clays £72, archery alone £32. Bristol Activity Centre at Cribbs Causeway runs a similar menu (paintball from age 8, quads, clays, axe throwing) but keeps prices inside its booking system, so we can't confirm figures this run; get a quote before comparing.
The one genuine in-city option is Boom Battle Bar on James Street West, where urban axe throwing starts at £15 per person for a 30 or 60-minute lane.
