That's the fact every "padel in Bath" search result dances around, so we'll say it plainly. Britain's fastest-growing sport has landed in Corsham, Shepton Mallet, Chapmanslade and half of Bristol, but not in the city itself. Three separate schemes are grinding through planning (more on those below), and one already-approved plan quietly dropped its padel courts altogether. Until something actually opens, playing padel as a Bath resident means driving, so the useful guide is a drive-time and booking-app comparison, not a list pretending the sport has arrived in town.

The courts within reach of Bath

Padel People opened its Leafield Industrial Estate site in December 2025 with four indoor doubles courts and two singles courts, it's the closest bookable padel to Bath, and its off-peak pricing (£9–£18 per court hour) is the cheapest in this list by a distance. It runs 5am to 1am, which means the "no courts free after work" problem that plagues the Bristol clubs barely applies. A £25-a-month membership takes 20% off everything and unlocks 28-day advance booking, which is worth it the moment you're playing weekly.

The one thing Corsham lacks is scale. If you want a proper club scene (leagues, Americano socials, coaching pathways, a bar to lose the post-match argument in), that's what the Bristol venues are for. Rocket Padel in Brislington calls itself the UK's largest indoor padel club at 14 courts, and its open-match system on Padel Mates will slot a solo player into a game that needs a fourth, which is the single best way to find regular partners if you're starting from zero. Surge in Fishponds is the boutique-gym version of the same idea, with eight courts, Playtomic booking and ten-session off-peak packs from £304. And if you're south of the city, don't overlook Racquet Garden at Thoulstone Park near Chapmanslade. Three outdoor courts at £30–£40 an hour, booked through Padel Mates, on the A36 about 25 minutes from Bath, roughly the same drive as Corsham in the opposite direction, and the only option here where you play in fresh air with a view rather than a converted industrial unit. Outdoor is the catch as well as the charm: check the forecast before you book a January slot. The apps: you'll end up with two

Nobody near Bath takes bookings by phone and hoping. Playtomic covers Corsham, Surge and The Padel Team; Padel Mates covers Rocket and Racquet Garden; Padel4all uses its own site. Lansdown Tennis, Squash & Croquet Club won permission back in 2024 to replace a tennis court with two padel courts at its Northfields site. Two years on, the club's own website lists tennis, squash, racketball and croquet, and no padel, so whatever the paperwork says, there's nothing to book. Walcot Rugby Club floated its own padel plan in May 2026, which is at the "reported in the local press" stage rather than the "diggers on site" stage.
